Asha Bhonsle - Biography, Films, and Songs Information

Asha Bhonsle - Biography

Asha Bhosle (born September 8, 1933) is a popular Hindi playback singer with a style different from her illustrious sister, Lata Mangeshkar.  Her singing career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over 1000 Bollywood movies.

O. P. Nayyar gave Asha  bollywood break in C.I.D. (1956). She  achieved recognition  in B. R. Chopra's Naya Daur (1957). Her duets with Rafi like Maang ke saath tumhara, Saathi haath badhana and Uden jab jab zulfein teri, penned by Sahir Ludhianvi earned her recognition.

In 1966, Asha's performance in the duets from music director R D Burman's first successful movie, Teesri Manzil won popular acclaim.

By the 1980s, Asha Bhosle had been stereotyped as a singer for dancers in films.  In Rekha-starrer Umrao Jaan, she proved her versatility by singing ghazals like Dil cheez kya hai, In aankhon ki masti ke, Ye kya jagah hai doston and Justju jiski thi.  The film's ghazals won her the first National Award of her career. A few years later, she won another National Award for the song Mera Kuchh Saamaan from Ijaazat (1987).

The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

Mukesh - मुकेश - Biography, Films and Songs - Videos Information

Date of Birth 22 July 1923
NRUTube - Mukesh Birthday Week - 16 July to 22 July

Mukesh Chand Mathur -  Mukesh, was a playback singer of Hindi movies. He, alongside Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar, made great impact on the Hindi film industry. Amongst the numerous nominations and awards he won, his song "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai" from film Rajnigandha (1973) won him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. Mukesh is also popular as being the voice of legendary actor Raj Kapoor. The music teacher who came home to teach Mukesh's sister, Sundar Pyari, found a pupil in Mukesh who would listen from the adjoining room. Mukesh worked briefly for the Department of Public Works. He experimented with voice recordings during his employment in Delhi and gradually developed his singing abilities.

Motilal, a distant relative observed Mukesh, when he sang at his sister's wedding and  took him to Mumbai and arranged for singing lessons by Pandit Jagannath Prasad. Mukesh was offered a role in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (1941). His first song was "Dil Hi Bujha Hua Ho To" as an actor-singer for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback singer for actor Motilal in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar with music composed by Anil Biswas and lyrics written by Aah Sitapuri. The first song that he sang for a Hindi film was "Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De".

Mukesh was  helped by  music director Naushad Ali to come out of his Saigal style and create his own style. Naushad gave him songs for the film Andaz. Initially Mukesh was the ghost voice of Dilip Kumar in this movie and Mohammed Rafi sang for Raj Kapoor. He delivered many Hits for Naushad in films like: Anokhi Ada (1948), Mela(1948), Andaz (1949). Other composers who used Mukesh voice for Dilip Kumar in hit songs like Jeevan Sapna toot gaya were Anil Biswas in Anokha Pyar, Ye Mera Diwanapan hai, Shankar-Jaikishan in Yahudi and Suhana Safar and Dil Tadap Tadap ke, Salil Choudhary in Madhumati. However later Dilip Kumar choose Rafi as his ghost voice and Mukesh became the ghost voice of Raj Kapoor.

In 1974, Mukesh received National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai" from Rajnigandha (1974), and Filmfare Awards for the songs "Sab Kuch Seekha Humne" in the movie Anari (1959), "Sabse Bada Naadan Wahi Hai" in Pehchaan (1970), "Jai Bolo Beimaan Ki" in Beimaan (1972) and "Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein", the title song of film Kabhie Kabhie (1976). A total of around 1,300 songs were sung by him.

Mukesh sang many memorable songs for Kalyanji Anandji music director duo. Mukesh sang more songs with the K-A duo than any other composer. From "Naina hai jadoo bhare..." Bedard Zamana Kya Jane (1958) composed by Kalyanji alone as Kalyanji Virji Shah, and "Main hoon mast madari..." Madari (1959) as the first Kalyanji-Anandji-Mukesh combo, to "Chahe aaj mujhe napasand karo..." Darinda/ 1977, the K-A, Mukesh combination gave numerous popular songs like "Chhalia mera naam...", "Mere toote hue dil se...", "Dum dum diga diga" Chalia(1959), "Mujhko iss raat ki tanhai mein..." Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960), "Hum chhod chale hain mehfil ko..." (Ji Chahta Hai), "Humne tumko pyar kiya hai jitna..." (Dulha Dulhan), "Chal mere dil lehraake chal..." Ishara and "Dheere se chalo..." Johar Mehmood In Goa,"Main to ek khwab hoon..." and "Chand si mehbooba ho..." Himalay ki God Mein(1965),"Waqt kartaa jo wafaa..." Dil Ne Pukara,"Deewanon se yeh mat poocho..." Upkar, "Khush raho har khushi hai..." Suhaag Raat and "Humsafar ab yeh safar kat jaayega..." Juari, "Chandi ki deewaar..." and "Le chal le chal mere jeevan saathi..." Vishwas (1969), "Koi jab tumhara hriday tod de..." Purab Aur Paschim, "Darpan ko dekha..." Upaasna, "Jo tumko ho pasand..." Jeetendra - Biography - Hindi Movies - Information and Videos

Jeetendra is a successful hindi film hero with many hits to his credit.

Jeetendra was born as 'Ravi Kapoor' on 7th April 1942, in Amritsar, Punjab. He attended St. Sebastian's Goan High School in Girgaum and his friend was Rajesh Khanna. He used to visit film studios occasionally, mainly for the purpose of supplying imitation jewelry, which was the business of his family.

Jeetendra got the first major break in Bollywood films with Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne, the 1964 film of V Shantaram. It seems his salary was decreased, when he was given the break. The decrease is based on the salary he earned as an extra actor earlier for V. Shantaram.

The film 'Farz' (1967) served as his stepping stone to success. Farz was followed by films like 'Caravan' and 'Humjoli', in which Jeetendra had more dance numbers. His vigorous dancing in the films won him the epithet, 'Jumping Jack of Bollywood'. His movies 'Parichay' (1972) and Khushboo (1975) showed his emoting ability in the roles. He had box office hit movies like 'Nagin' (1976), 'Dharam Veer' (1977) and 'Badalte Rishtey' and 'Swarg Narak' (1978). The early 1980s saw him starring in 'Apnapan', 'Judaai', 'Asha', 'Pyaasa Sawan', 'Maang Bharo Sajna' and 'Ek Hi Bhool'. He excelled in characters that showed middle class values and they appealed to the audience. In the 1980s, Jitendra was frequently paired up with Sridevi or Jayapradha for remakes of South Indian films by Rama Rao Tatineni, K. Bapayya and K. Raghavendra Rao. The films many of which are hits included Justice Chaudhry (1982), Mawaali (1983), Himmatwala (1983), Jaani Dushman, and Tohfa (1984).

Jeetendra got married to Shobha on 31st October 1974. They have  a daughter, Ekta first, and subsequently a son, Tusshar. Today, Ektaa Kapoor runs the successful production house 'Balaji Telefilms' and Tusshar is an actor in Bollywood.

She reached the pinnacle of her success in 1958, when two of her films; Sadhna and Madhumati became huge critical and commercial hits.
