Saroj Khan - HIndi Films Choreographer - Biography

Birthday 22 November 1948

She choreographed for number of Hindi movies and many songs became top hits for dance as well as songs.
She gave number of programmes on TV channels also explaining dance. She was a judge for number of dance reality shows.


Nirmala Kishanchand Sadhu Singh Nagpal  is popularly known as Saroj Khan. She is  one of the most prominent Indian dance choreographers/dance director in Hindi cinema. She choreographed more than 200 films. Saroj Khan was born to Hindu parents but she is married to a Muslim, Sardar Roshan Khan and that is where her last name Khan comes from.

Her parents migrated to India after partition of India. She started her career as a child artist at age three in film Nazarana as child Shyama.  She later became a background dancer in the late 1950s. She learnt dance direction under film choreographer B. Sohanlal and became an assistant choreographer. She did independent choreography with Geeta Mera Naam (1974). With  Sri Devi's  Hawa Hawai dance in Mr India (1987), Nagina (1986) and Chandni (1989) she became an acclaimed choreographer. Madhuri Dixit's hit Ek Do Teen in Tezaab (1988), Tamma Tamma Loge in Thanedaar (1990) and Dhak Dhak Karne Laga in Beta (1992) made her one of most successful Bollywood choreographers.
