She was born on 21 November, 1939 in Burma.
She first appeared as chorus dancer in films Shabistan and Awara in 1951.
She appeared as dancer in innumerable films and she had longer roles also in some films.
She married Salim Khan, a scrip writer, of Salim-Javed fame.
