Majrooh Sultanpuri - Biography, Films, Songs and Videos Information

Majrooh Sultanpuri (1 October 1919 − 24 May 2000)


Majrooh Sultanpuri first wrote songs or lyrics for the film Shah Jehan (1946). The songs of the film became  immensely popular.

He wrote further for S. Fazil's Mehndi, Mehboob's Andaaz (1949), and Shahid Latif's Aarzoo. He was jailed in 1949 along with other leftists like Balraj Sahni. He wrote the song "Dunia Banane Wale") for Raj Kapoor.

Majrooh won Filmfare Best Lyricist Award for the song "Chahunga Mein Tujhe Saanj Savere" from Dosti.
