Storyline
Lalita is an orphaned niece of a clerk, Gurucharan. She falls in love with Shekhar, son of their rich landlord neighbor. Gurucharan has mortgaged his house to his neighbour for his daughter's marriage. Gurucharan takes loan from a wealthy young man named Girin. This gives rise to a rumour that the loan was given so that Lalita will marry Girin. This misunderstanding leads to communication problems between Lalita and Shekhar as well as the opposition from Shekhar's father. A tragedy ensues due to it.
